- Grind the coffee beans. A rather coarse grind is desired here, so that the final result is not too bitter. They can also be pre-ground if a coffee grinder is not available.
- Add coffee and water to a large bowl and cover. Leave to sit for at least 18 hours; longer if desired.
- Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve, cheesecloth, or coffee filters. A coffee concentrate has been made, so it is best to dilute it with ice or cold water before drinking. If desired, add two tablespoons of condensed milk for sweetness. Coffee concentrate keeps in the fridge for up to a week.
